Welcome to Agang Bokamoso

Our work began in 2010 in response to a lack of play spaces and the growing social challenges facing our communities—poverty, violence, substance abuse, and the erosion of childhood. We saw that when children are left idle or unsafe, their futures are put at risk. We stepped in to change that.

ABOUT US

Today, Agang Bokamoso offers both centre-based and non-centre based programmes focused on education, play, care, and empowerment. We serve children and families in Ga-Rankuwa, a township facing deep inequalities, poverty, unemployment and limited access to quality services.

Our Pillars of Change

Our Pillars of Change

Children

As of 2020, South Africa’s population was about 60 million, with 20 million children under 18—making up 34% of the population. Although children’s rights are clearly defined, ensuring these rights for every child remains a major challenge due to deep inequality. Millions of the country’s most vulnerable and marginalized children continue to be left behind.. We protect children’s rights and empower them as leaders of tomorrow.

Accesss

Access is the ability, right, or permission to use or benefit from something. In South Africa, inequality and structural violence mean access often depends on who you are and where you live. True transformation requires equitable access, as resources directly influence opportunities, life outcomes, and the potential for upward social and economic mobility. We break down barriers so every child can benefit from safe spaces, learning tools, and opportunity.

Play

Play is a universal and powerful tool that supports children’s health, learning, and long-term development. It builds resilience, unlocks creativity, and improves life outcomes, including education and employability. As a cost-effective strategy, play reduces poverty and fosters lasting well-being across cultures and generations.

Agency

Agency is the ability of a person to make choices and take actions that influence their own life and surroundings. It involves acting with intention, making decisions, and having the power to shape outcomes. For children, agency means being seen, heard, and supported to participate meaningfully in their own development and community.
